Koetting & Associates Accident Reconstruction is a full-service accident reconstruction and investigation firm based in Redding, California, owned by Robert Koetting, ACTAR, and licensed by the State of California as a Private Investigator, license number 27430. Mr. Koetting honorably retired from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in 2011 after serving over 25 years as an officer and a sergeant. At the time of his retirement, Mr. Koetting was the sergeant / Team Leader supervising the CHP's Northern Division Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Mr. Koetting had been involved with the CHP's MAIT program for over 20 years, and at the time of his retirement was the senior MAIT investigator with the CHP. Mr. Koetting's career with the CHP included assignments with the Southern Division MAIT unit based in Los Angeles, the Valley Division MAIT unit based in Sacramento, the Northern Division MAIT unit based in Redding, and the Academy in West Sacramento. While assigned to the Academy, Mr. Koetting was the CHP's state-wide lead instructor for all departmental in-service advanced traffic accident investigation and reconstruction training. After completing that assignment, Mr. Koetting continued as an Associate Instructor in the advanced traffic accident investigation and reconstruction courses. Mr. Koetting has been an instructor to nearly every MAIT investigator and traffic accident reconstruction specialist assigned to the CHP, as well as personnel from numerous other agencies. In addition to traffic collision investigations, Mr. Koetting has served as a member of officer-involved shooting investigation teams with the CHP since 1989, and has assisted many other law enforcement agencies with the reconstruction of various serious criminal investigations.
Mr. Koetting is a court-qualified expert in the fields of traffic accident and crime scene reconstruction in over a dozen California counties and the US District Court, Eastern District of California. Mr. Koetting is an accredited Traffic Accident Reconstructionist, accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR).
